El Portal Porcelana Now Search Enabled!
Users can
now search for individual items by title name or by number. (Search result
links will open in a separate
window.) To search by model name, simply place the title in quotes.
Troubleshooting notes:
- The search by model name will not work if there's more than one word
in the title unless you place
the name in quotes. Most Hispania names, however, are pretty generic one-word
titles, so
if you just type in a keyword, chances are you'll get search results that
way, too.
- The model number search will not work if you place a number
sign, brand name, or any other prefix before the number.
- No letter suffix
is required
for model numbers in Hispania.
If you don't know the name or model number, you can always browse the catalog
category links below to find your particular model.

The Hispania Catalog
This catalog lists only those Hispania items that date from the
tenure of Lladró's ownership of the company in the decade of the 1980s.
These items may be identified by the "© DAISA" in the mark.
Hispania items were made in a clay or ceramic formula that allowed for
larger scale than is generally possible if
models are made in fine porcelain. Many of the
Hispania animal figurines, for example, are quite large,
some nearly lifesize. These
items tend to attract multiple bidders on those relatively rare occasions
when they show up at internet auction. However, collectors should be advised
that, because these items are ceramic and not porcelain, they tend to be
thinly potted and vulnerable to damage - something to bear in mind
when contemplating the shipping challenges on a life-size German shepherd
bought online.
Most of what the company produced, however, was generic housewares: vases,
mirrors, lamps, ashtrays, and the like, in plain and somewhat nondescript
styles designed for practicality rather than collectiblity. Consequently,
I have included, in the Miscellaneous section of the catalog, only some
representative examples of the more interesting of these houseware items.
Given this self-imposed restriction, the catalog makes no claim to being
comprehensive.
The Hispania catalog also differs from other Lladró catalogs on this
site in that it is an
identification catalog only; I have no retail price history on the items,
nor can I venture to estimate values. I have seen some of the larger Hispania
animal models go out at internet auction
at $200 USD or more. With the exception of animal and bird figurines, however,
most Hispania items have achieved only very modest gavel prices
($25 or less) at internet auction.
No portion of this catalog may be
reproduced or distributed in any print or electronic venue or for
other public consumption
without the express permission of Peggy Whiteneck.

At Last - A New Lladró Book!
The Lladró Guide; A Collector's Reference to Retired Porcelain Figurines in Lladró Brands
My most recent Lladró book has revised and expanded content and
remains the only book in print on this topic that isn't just a catalog. Covers all Lladró and
Lladró-affiliated brands (regular collection, NAO, Zaphir, Golden Memories,
Hispania, Rosal, and Tang) and tells how to distinguish them from imitations and counterfeits.
Includes revised and expanded content, including
many new photos and a new chapter on future directions for collectors and the company now that it has
passed from family hands. The book is in hard cover, which eliminates
that annoying curl-up that happens with paperback books. You can order the book directly from the publisher, Schiffer Books,
on Amazon,
or from your favorite bookstore using the ISBN 13 number 978-0764358395.
Warning: If you're looking for a catalog
of every retired figurine Lladró ever made, this is not the book for you. If you're looking for beautiful, full-color photos of
representative models and more in-depth and well-researched
information about Lladró and its history and production than you can get in thumbnail photos with captions,
this book is what you're looking for.
